She was slopping the hogs in her wedding dress
And her golden tresses were such a mess.
Her tears were hidden by the pouring rain.
Standing alone had become her refrain.

She hoped she would tie the knot this time.
She though everything would turn out fine.
His heart was cold as a block of ice.
She couldn’t believe she’d been jilted twice.

Chorus

She lives in the country in a ramshackle home.
If she had a mower the grass would be mown.
At night she accompanies a pail and a mop.
And cleans up after those on the way to the top.

Her clothes have been mended many times.
She often thinks of reading nursery rhymes.
It’s hard to find a man in a one horse town.
The only one available is a drunken clown.

Chorus

Country boys seem to marry young
So your always on the bottom rung.
Books and cats can only take you so far
And chunky glasses don’t help in a bar.

She pinches her pennies but can’t make ends meet.
And a gentleman’s company would be a treat.
She watches the sun give way to night.
In her dreams she’ll be a mom and a wife.

Chorus
Love won’t stick to your Teflon heart will
Will it ever be pierced by cupids dart?
You’re trying to find the key to your soul.
Will he be Prince Charming or be a Troll?
